Multifamily Plans for Phipps Revived?

Could a Dallas-based apartment developer's 2012 plans for a complex next to Phipps Plaza be finally seeing the light of day? According to City of Atlanta permits, it looks that way, but with a new developer.

A permit for site work was filed this past week for Phipps Plaza Lofts, a 320-unit apartment project next to the Simon Property mall. This could be the same project—albeit with a new name—proposed by Columbus Realty Trust in 2012. (Sometimes to reinvent yourself you just need a change of names, just ask Prince.) There's no indication of Columbus' involvement. Instead, permits list Equitable Life Assurance as the owner. We captured the original site plan from Livable Buckhead. Officials with Columbus did not return calls seeking comment.
