It was 10 years in the making, but Weeks-Robinson will finally begin work on the Fort Gillem redevelopment with Kroger's massive distribution center. (A lot of sweat and stress went into making the perfect place to store and re-ship bread.)

Sources tell us the City of Atlanta and Kroger Co are expected to make an announcement confirming what we've first reported here—that the grocery giant will develop a 1.5M SF refrigerated warehouse at the former US Army base. That announcement could come as early as tomorrow. This is a big win for Weeks Robinson, which has been attempting to help transform at least part of Fort Gillem into an industrial campus anchored by Kroger. Weeks-Robinson's Forrest Robinson (pictured) could not be reached for comment.

And details about the extent of what will take place in Fort Gillem was not known as of press time, although sources say Weeks-Robinson is considering industrial spec there.
