Atlanta's Shadowlight Pictures released its first feature film this week. Good Intentions, starring country singer LeAnn Rimes and Luke Perry (remember Dylan in 90210?), is available on DVD. Atlanta companies Spanx and Sweetwater Brewery make appearances (read: product placement). The movie, filmed in Decatur and other Georgia towns, is a milestone for Shadowlight founders Richard Sampson (middle above with colleagues) and Pamela Peacock (third from left),who founded the company in ?02. Shadowlight also does commercials and corporate work, in between the glam stuff. | |
And there's a real estate angle here (hey, stop checking e-mails while we're talking). When asked why Shadowlight chose Atlanta, Richard of course mentioned Georgia tax breaks. Since 2008, moviemakers have reaped a whopping 30% credit for film production spending. They also like Atlanta for its backdrops: homes in various neighborhoods and of various ages, and plenty of office buildings. Seriously. He mentioned office buildings. With (almost) no prodding. |
