How he found his way there: Met Howard when Steve was a reporter for the Brooklyn Daily Eagle and then Real Estate Weekly. Howard had already been in business 10 years.
Detour: Went out on his own in ’69, then folded practice back into Rubenstein in 1990.
Why company charges retainer rather than hourly fee: “Never met a client who cared how long or little time it took to get something done, even if you do it with a two-minute phone call.”
