Colliers Hires 2 Former MHP Leasing Leaders
After 18 years and 13 years, respectively, at MHP, former partner Rick Doolittle and former Managing Director JP Howard have joined Colliers. They will continue to represent LH Charney & Associates in leasing 1410 Broadway and 1441 Broadway.
“I love the platform that they offer the brokers,” Doolittle told Bisnow in an interview. “It is a firm that is growing in the city of New York and it will be an asset for my agencies.”
Last May, CEO David Sturner told Bisnow that the firm was shutting down its leasing arm and laying off employees after the coronavirus pandemic essentially froze the city's office market, but Doolittle said he and Howard worked for MHP through the end of 2020.
Doolittle has been hired as executive managing director and Howard as a director at Colliers. They have closed around 40K SF of leases across the two Class-A buildings since this summer, Doolittle said. The 34-story buildings have 855K SF of office space combined.
Doolittle has brokered leasing deals for 30 years. He joined MHP in 2002 and has been at the helm of leasing efforts at 111 Broadway, 115 Broadway and 17 Battery Place in addition to these two locations, according to Colliers.
He has represented both owners and tenants such as GE Capital, Citibank and Republic Bank, according to MHP’s website. Howard has been a broker since 2007 when he joined MHP. Before that, he was an account executive at Nationstar Mortgage.
The team negotiated WeWork’s 15-year, 46K SF lease at 1410 Broadway in 2019 for both the tenant and the landlord.
“Rick and JP join a Colliers team in New York that emphasizes collaboration and a team-first approach,” Colliers Executive Managing Director and Market Leader Jason Lund said. “This culture of collaboration has been a critical driver of results for our clients regionally and across the country. Having worked with these two professionals in the past they are perfectly aligned with the Colliers mindset."
