NYU Langone continues to grow outside of its Midtown East campus, and could be taking a big chunk of space at the former Citigroup complex.

The medical school is in talks to lease all 200K SF of office space at 159 East 53rd St., the six-story building underneath the stilted 601 Lexington Ave., The Real Deal reports. The atrium building was formerly considered an annex to 601 Lexington when Citigroup occupied both buildings, but Boston Properties has given it a new address as it redevelops the building and surrounding plaza.

The $150M renovation will convert the ground and lower floors into the Atrium Shops and Cafes, which Boston Properties is seeking to partially fill with a food hall, in keeping with the concept's growing popularity. Asking rent for the office portion above it is $90/SF, according to TRD.

NYU Langone continues to spread out, with this possible deal coming on the heels of its announcement of a new outpatient surgery center in Brooklyn and the triple-net lease it signed at 222 East 41st St. with Columbia Property Trust in 2016.
