Protesters Cry Foul Over 421a Project in Prospect Lefferts

Placeholder

Last week the Alliance for Tenant Power brought about 75 protesters to the new residential high-rise at Hudson Cos.’ 626 Flatbush Ave in Prospect Lefferts Gardens. Their beef was with the 421a tax abatement, which the 254-unit project benefits from and also requires 20% affordable units. The protesters wanted more than 51 units to be earmarked as affordable and argued that 421a leads to gentrification and displacement of low-income folks from neighborhoods, The Real Deal reports. A market-rate studio in the building, which topped off in February, will go for about $1,900 a month. [TRD]
