Brooklyn Hts Library Redevelopment Plan Get Council Nod

Placeholder

On Wednesday, the City Council gave the green light to a proposal to sell and redevelop the Brooklyn Public Library branch in Brooklyn Heights.

A week earlier, council member Steve Levin announced his public support for the plan, which will include a 36-story condo building and commercial space to become the new home of the library branch, Curbed reports.

According to the plan, the library branch will be bigger and include new amenities like a Department of Ed-sanctioned STEM lab. Now the development, led by the Hudson Cos, just has to get by the Mayor, who’s unlikely to stand in its way. The next step will be the $52M purchase of 280 Cadman Plaza West and the razing of the existing building there. [Curbed]
