Paul Massey of Massey Knakal Realty Services is mulling a run for mayor in 2017.

He's already launched a political action campaign, "1NY Together," and begun meeting with New York business leaders and top Republicans, New York Magazine reports.

"Paul has been very successful in real estate," 2013 Republican mayoral candidate Joe Lhota tells NYM. "I encouraged him to get in the race."

Paul's potential candidacy could mean a crowded field of commercial real estate pros in the race: Don Peebles, chairman of Peebles Corp, is also thinking about a run.

Massey and his former partner, Robert Knakal, sold their brokerage to Cushman & Wakefield in 2014 for $100M, and Massey is currently the president of New York investment sales at C&W.

"This isn't a tale of two cities; it's a tale of one city and it can be great for everyone," Massey told Crain's when announcing 1NY Together last month. [NYM]
