Thursday, we joined Stalco Construction, Hauppauge Industrial Association (HIA), and UPWorld in a jungle-themed networking event at Stalco's Long Island offices, featuring lions and tigers, but thankfully no one in loin cloths. We snapped this of Cameron Engineering's Robert Wilkinson; Stalco's Rob Isbit; BBS Architects & Engineers' William Robertson; Schuckman Realty's Ed Gottlieb; HIA's Terri Alessi-Miceli; Stalco's Kevin Harney, Alan Nahmias,Lauren Mancuso, and Kevin Dunathan; Bohler Engineering's Joe Deal; Brown & Altman's Keith Brown and David Altman; and Wilk Marketing Communications' Peter Wilk. The party wasn't the only exciting event in Stalco's offices last week: an episode of Discovery HD Theater's new show Two Wheel Thunder: American Icon taped there after Alan donated a $49k Gravesend Cycles motorcycle to Long Island charity Contractors For Kids. Additionally, Stalco donated $100 to the HIA Scholarship fund for every CEO who attended.

USI Insurance Services' Toni Ann-Kobel, Historic Construction Management Corp.'s Joel Snodgrass, Advantage Title's Denise Angiulo, and Vision Long Island's Eric Alexander. Eric is the executive director of the smart growth communities group, and tells us he's been studying the effect of casinos on LI in response to Nassau County exec Edward Mangano's recent proposal that the Shinnecock Nation build one on the Nassau Coliseum site. What he's learned? Casinos have a negative effect on communities, surrounding residential values, traffic, and the economy, he says, noting that he still supports The Lighthouse at Long Island being built there.

2M Technologies' Kevin Mallahy, Ridge Abstract's Sean Molloy, CCS's Matthew Stern, Great American Brokerage's Paul Fetscher, and Kohl Capital Associates' Jason Kohl. Following the success of businesses like rent-a-cops, Matthew is a rent-a-chief information officer, offering a more affordable option than a full time CIO. For those following Paul's “track” record, he just finished the RXR/TIAA-CREF Long Island half-marathon, which he founded 37 years ago, and is quickly approaching his 2,000th road race (we bet he can save money by running to ICSC's RECon in Vegas instead of flying). And Jason just returned from New Orleans, where he became one the newest CCIM s.
