WESTCHESTER SPROUTS MED FACILITIES
Elizabeth Seton Pediatric Center
The Elizabeth Seton Pediatric Center, a not-for-profit, pediatric specialty nursing facility for children with complex clinical conditions and disabilities, has moved to its new home at 300 Corporate Blvd, South Yonkers after a 22-month build out. It relocated from Sixth and 17th in Manhattan into the new 165k SF, four-story, LEED-certified nursing facility. Overall, healthcare facilities are going green for a better patient environment, VVA Project Managers & Consultants senior associate Craig Senior tells us. At ESPC, the focus was on bringing more natural light into the building and using building products with recycled content, he says. Architect Perkins Eastman also designed balconies on each floor to allow children access to fresh air and the outdoors.
Center for Autism and the Developing Brain
Also this week in Westchester, NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital(along with its affiliated medical schools Weill Cornell Medical College and Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons) broke ground on its Center for Autism and the Developing Brain in White Plains, an 11k SF facility slated to open next year. The Center’s mission: cutting-edge research, education, and comprehensive services to people with autism spectrum disorders from infancy through adulthood. (Notice they have hammers and not the ubiquitous shovels... we love a shakeup in groundbreaking tools.)
