TIMES FOR RETAIL
Forget the camera and electronic vendors, Times Square is now a must for soft goods and specialty retailers (particularly fashion stores), adding to the plethora of entertainment and dining options, says Robert K. Futterman & Associates chairman Robert Futterman, a speaker at Bisnow’s “The Evolution of Times Square and the West Side” event on March 2.

Bolstering the sector are the more than 21,000 residential unitsplanned or being built in the 40s and 50s to the West Side, the upcoming Hudson Yards development, and a thriving office marketthat has extended to Eighth Avenue with the addition of Eleven Times Square, he tells us. RKF has been behind recent major deals in the area, like Oakley’s 1,815k SF lease at 1515 Broadway and 150k SF of leases to Daffy’s, Bowlmor, and DiscoveryTSX at The Times Square Building (where another 100k SF is expected to be signed in the next three months). Joining Robert in the discussion at Eleven Times Square are SJP Properties chairman Steve Pozycki, CBRE chairman of global brokerage Stephen Siegel, Proskauer partner Ron Sernau, Africa-Israel USA general counsel Laurie Golub, and Related Hudson Yards president Jay Cross.
