Sonic's new North Babylon location at 1380 Deer Park Ave
It’s finally arrived—Sonic opened its first restaurant on Long Islandthis week. While some people may see it as just another restaurant opening, Long Islanders (your Bisnow New York reporter included) were tortured for years by ads for Sonic Blasts and burgers and no way to fill our TV-induced cravings. Above: proof that the North Babylon location at 1380 Deer Park Ave does exist. The car hop restaurant took 1,700 SF and three quarters of an acre, which includes 22 canopy drive-in stalls where your food is delivered to you, a 16-seat heated patio, and full drive-thru service. Northwest Atlantic’s Steve Gillman reps the Sonic franchisee, which is planningeven more locations on Long Island, and the Spelman family is the landlord. So we finally got our Denny’s last year, Sonic this year—now where’s our Chick-Fil-A and In-N-Out Burger? Tell us what chains you’d like to see around town.
