MORE EXCITING THAN THE GOLDEN GLOBES
Get those shiny baubles and tuxedos ready—REBNY is expecting over 2,000 real estate pros at its 116th annual banquet at the Hilton this Thursday and you don’t want to miss it (we sure won’t).
REBNY President Steven Spinola
President Steven Spinola tells us plenty of top industry names are attending, and Christine Quinn, Mayor Mike, Chuck Schumer, and other gov officials have RSVP'd. It won’t be just a night to talk about available space or potential sales, he says. A hot topic among members: the level and fairness of taxation in NYC—real estate is the largest block of revenue ($17B annually to City services) and two-thirds of that come from income-producing commercial and residential properties, even though one- to three-family homes and Park Avenue co-ops pay a small fraction of their value in real estate taxes. And how will the City and State balance budgets and put limits on pensions over the next decade?
REBNY Banquet
But it’s not only about making deals: being honored at the banquet are The Durst Org’s Douglas Durst (The Bernard H. Mendik Lifetime Leadership in Real Estate Award), Rubenstein Associates’ Howard Rubenstein (The Harry B. Helmsley Distinguished New Yorker Award); Ackman-Ziff’s Simon Ziff (The Louis Smadbeck Broker Recognition Award), RFR Realty’s Gerard Schumm (The George M. Brooker Management Executive of the Year Award), The Corcoran Group’s Pamela Liebman (The Kenneth R. Gerrety Humanitarian Award), and Cushman & Wakefield’s David Green (The Young Real Estate Man of the Year Award). Don’t miss out: you can still buy your tickets here.
