Lululemon Targets Men For Sales

Placeholder

Lululemon CEO Laurent Potdevin hopes an overseas expansion will allow his firm to break its female-only image.

That’s a bold vision considering women make up 80% of the yoga retailer’s customers, but Potdevin says an overseas expansion will allow the firm to open in locations where consumers don’t associate Lululemon with women. He predicts this will eventually allow the firm to get 40% of its business from men, Bloomberg reports.

“Our men’s business is certainly a billion-dollar franchise,”  Potdevin says. “There is plenty of room for us to grow.”

If there’s anyone who can draw men to Lululemon, it’s Potdevin—he’s already crossed the gender divide by bringing more men to Toms Shoes and more women to Burton Snowboards. [Bloomberg]
