The Japan-based company is opening four locations in New York City — three in Manhattan and one in Brooklyn — as well as two stores in Chicago and one apiece in Boston, D.C., Maryland and the Seattle area, Fast Co. first reported

The stores are expected to open in the spring and summer of 2026.

The locations include two new flagship stores, the retailer said, on Chicago’s Magnificent Mile and San Francisco’s Market Street. The iconic retail stretches were formerly home to Uniqlo stores that both closed in 2021. In Washington, D.C., Uniqlo is taking a former J. Crew space on the M Street shopping corridor in Georgetown.

The retailer announced 11 prior U.S. store openings in April 2024 — six in California and five in Texas.

Uniqlo has 2,495 stores worldwide and 78 in the U.S. In October 2023, when the company had 53 U.S. stores, Uniqlo USA CEO Yoshihide Shindo said the plan was to have 200 in the U.S. by 2027.

Executives at Uniqlo's parent company, Fast Retailing Co., have been outspoken about the impact of the Trump administration’s tariffs on U.S. prices. Fast Retailing USA CEO Takeshi Okazaki said in July that it was planning to hike U.S. prices starting in the fall and winter, Reuters reported.

The majority of Uniqlo products sold in the U.S. are produced in South and Southeast Asia, according to Reuters.

Last fiscal year, Uniqlo did more than 2.6T yen in sales, or $17.3B.
