DC: USGBC Ups Leed Ante

Placeholder

USGBC's Scot Horst, who oversees LEED for the org, tells us to expect the USGBC's revamped rating system, LEED v4, to raise the bar this year for certification by increasing the prerequisites needed to get the LEED stamp. He says it's already been tested with 120 projects around the world and gives LEED a badly needed update; the same rating system has been in place for 14 years. (Do you remember what you were doing 14 years ago? Chances are you don't still want to be doing it.) Another big push in '14 is to implement an interactive plaque in lobbies, which will show visitors real-time data on how efficient a building or space actually is. Scott says the USGBC has already installed one (officially called a LEED Dynamic Plaque) in the org's DC office.
