Salesforce Is ‘Doubling Down On New York.’ Here’s Why.
Salesforce has put rumors to rest that it is moving into Ivanhoé Cambridge and Callahan Capital Properties' 1095 Sixth Ave (aka 3 Bryant Park) by confirming that the move is indeed going to happen—and in a big way.
The business software behemoth told Bloomberg that in a deal it’s working on, it’ll get naming rights to the 1.2M SF building fronting Bryant Park. MetLife’s logo adorns the roof now.
Last month Salesforce’s revenue beat expectations, part of a growth spurt that’s helping it expand operations worldwide. The firm has a large client base in NYC, including Bank of America, whose namesake tower is across 42nd Street from the future Salesforce Tower New York.
“Essentially, we’re doubling down on New York,” EVP for global real estate Elizabeth Pinkham tells Bloomberg.
That will mean adding hundreds of jobs to its operation here. How much space will Salesforce take? The company’s not saying yet, but MetLife will leave behind about 380k SF in the building when it packs up and consolidates its New York offices at 200 Park Ave next year. Crain’s reported back in August that the deal could be around 200k SF.
Salesforce’s New York footprint is scattered right now between office space at 685 Third Avenue, 140 East 45th Street and 155 Sixth Avenue. The new digs will consolidate those operations under one (Salesforce sign-adorned) roof. [Bloomberg]
