DDG's Upper East Side Condo Project Forced To Halt Work

Placeholder

Work has been ordered to halt at DDG Partners’ 32-story condo tower at 180 East 88th St.

The Department of Buildings wrote a letter to the developer, saying it would seek to revoke an approval for a zoning rule change that let the developer create a four-foot-wide lot that would mean the project wouldn’t be up against the street, the New York Times reports.

Per zoning in the area, this buffer from the street would allow additional floors to be built. DDG, which picked up the site for about $70M in 2013, will now have to submit a new set of plans for work to proceed.

DDG has made almost $20k in contributions to mayor Bill de Blasio’s Campaign for One New York. According to the Times, the donations don't appear to have any connection to the ongoing investigations surrounding the mayor’s fundraising activities and ties to the real estate industry. [NYT]
