Venyu Expands In Gulf Shores

National Data Center

One of the Louisiana's only Cloud players is expanding again as demand perks up along the Gulf Coast.

We went crawfish boiling to get an interview with Venyu's Matt Wallace (here) and Tommy Curb about their recent $14M expansion of its Baton Rouge BTR1 data center facility. Matt says for its variety of customers—with names like Lamar Advertising, H&E Heavy Equipment—the need for expansion has much to do with Cloud computing. With a collection of its existing customers, Matt says they're already at quarter capacity in the expansion in the Baton Rouge addition. (We're running out of space, does this mean handwritten letters are going to make a comeback?)

“We're comfortable in the Gulf South,” Tommy tells us. “We do have intentions to look at locations outside of Louisiana.” (There's two things that are constant in this life, taxes and people using the Internet.) Venyu already operates three facilities in Louisiana including in Shreveport and in Baton Rouge. It's latest expansion adds 23k SF to its Baton Rouge facility.
