Association's New Virtual Museum

The American Association for Respiratory Care launched a virtual museum this summer to showcase the history of the profession. Spokeswoman Sherry Milligan says the Dallas-based organization reached out to its 50,000 members to get photos of artifacts that could be displayed in the online museum. Several photos of early respiratory instruments like this oxygen cannula from the 1920s were collected. The museum also highlights pioneers of the profession like Edwin Levine, a Chicago doctor who organized the Inhalation Therapy Association in the 1940s. Sherry says the association hopes the virtual museum can be used for education and to fuel industry pride.
