$15M Reno In Store For The Queen Mary

The new leaseholders of the Queen Mary say it's time for the ship to get a new look.

Urban Commons announced last week it will spend $15M to renovate the state rooms and other parts of the interior of the Queen Mary, relying on touches of history and modernism to update the ship.

The Queen Mary dates back 80 years and has hosted the likes of Winston Churchill, according to the LA Daily News.

Urban Commons bought its lease in April and 43 acres adjacent to it. The City of Long Beach owns the ship.

The reno is scheduled to be finished late next year. [LADN]
