Consulting Firm Expands Into 25K SF At DTLA's The Bloc

The company went from 8.7K SF to about 24K SF.

A tenant at The Bloc decided to expand in Downtown, taking about 24.8K SF, almost three times the size of its previous office.

Business and technology consulting firm West Monroe is moving from about 8.7K SF in the same property, Commercial Observer reported. The Bloc sits at 700 S. Flower St.

West Monroe has inked two additional expansions in the last six months, one in Seattle and another in San Francisco. Both leases were under 20K SF, making the Downtown location the largest of the three.

Office expansions usually come in the same breath as the words "Century City" these days, so a company choosing to grow in Downtown is noteworthy.

"We are making a long-term investment in these markets while others are scaling back because we believe that collaboration is at the heart of effective consulting,” Brian Paulen, West Monroe’s head of offices and global enterprise services, told CO in a statement.

“These new office spaces are designed to bring people together to innovate and solve our clients’ most complex challenges.”

LA's return-to-office numbers have lagged other major cities by a couple of metrics, but nationally, downsizing has turned a corner in part under pressure from mandates that employees work in person.

The Bloc is owned by National Real Estate Advisors, which has plans to fit a 53-story residential tower on the site.
