A first look at Sapphire, a new mixed-use project in downtown LA, has just been revealed, thanks to the LA Department of City Planning.

Steinberg Architects is designing the project, developed by Jade Enterprises. It will have two buildings on 5th and 6th streets between Lucas Avenue and Bixel Street in City West.

Sapphire will be built after the demolition of an office complex and parking garage at 1111 W 6th St, according to Urbanize LA.

The 7-story buildings will be connected by a pedestrian bridge. Both buildings will have studio, one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments.

The larger building (6th and Bixel Street) will have 227 apartments and 22k SF ground-floor commercial space.

The second, which will front 5th Street, will have 142 units.  [ULA]
