Groundbreaking For $250M LAFC Stadium To Take Place Next Week

Placeholder

Major League Soccer's LA Football Club will officially break ground next week on its 22,000-seat, $250M stadium.

The Exposition Park project is being designed by Gensler.

It will include 10k SF of restaurants, office space, a conference center and a soccer museum, Urbanize LA reports.

The new stadium is being built on the site of the 57-year-old LA Memorial Sports Arena, which closed in March. It will be demolished to make way for the project.

The stadium could play a prominent role in helping lure the 2024 Summer Olympics to LA.

The team plans to open the new LAFC stadium in time for the 2018 MLS season.

The groundbreaking is scheduled for Tuesday. [ULA]
