The Coalition to Preserve LA is putting pressure on Mayor Eric Garcetti and the state government to build 20,000 affordable rental units in LA over the next three years.

There is also a call to put a moratorium on some luxury buildings that are not adhering to current zoning laws. The organization asserts that luxury projects are driving up land prices, adding up to bad news for working families, many of which are then forced out of affordable homes, according to Multi-Housing News.

Affordable housing units consist of one-bedroom units that can be rented for $600/month or two-bedrooms that are $800 or less, according to the coalition. [MHN]
