Families That Work Together: The Roskis

When it comes to real estate, some family companies go back generations. In this new series, Bisnow will take a look at real estate dynasties with rich histories that continue to shape the landscape today. The Roski family is one of them.

Well-Known Properties: The Majestic Airport Center Dallas-Fort Worth, Mountain Grove at Citrus Plaza in Redlands, CA

Recent Projects: Majestic Realty broke ground in July on a 239,400 SF warehouse and manufacturing/production facility for Melmarc at the former Sunkist factory at 752 Campus Ave in Ontario.

Leadership: Edward Roski Jr. serves as president and chairman of the board of Majestic Realty Co, a company his father started in 1948. He is a former Marine Corps officer and has two Purple Hearts.

A native of Oklahoma, Edward is a graduate of USC and chairs its Board of Trustees.

Edward's daughter, Reon, is Majestic Realty's managing director and a member of its board (and one of our LA Power Women).

The Company: Majestic Realty is the nation’s “largest, privately held developer and owner of master-planned business parks,” according to its website.

The firm has a 76.5M SF real estate portfolio that includes projects in about a dozen states, including California, Colorado, Florida, Pennsylvania and Texas. Not only is Edward committed to real estate, he is also known as a philanthropist, launching the Majestic Realty Foundation 14 years ago.

Other Majestic Realty-related entities are Commerce Construction Co, Majestic Management Co and Majestic Realty Retail.

Edward is also on the boards of LACMA, the Bowers Museum, the California Science Center, the Natural History Museum of LA County, the LA Sports & Entertainment Commission, and the National Geographic Society, serving on its executive committee, according to Majestic Realty’s website.

Edward’s love of sports is evident in his co-ownership of both the LA Kings and the Lakers. He is also known for his crucial role in helping get Staples Center in DTLA off the ground.
