MILKEN IN DC

Los Angeles
Placeholder

Philanthropist and former financier Mike Milken, center, seems to have become more active in DC lately, including on the real estate scene. We snapped him recently at the Washington Economic Club with George Washington University president Steve Knapp and Carlyle Group co-founder David Rubenstein. Milken has bought an historic 38k SF former bank HQ near the White House for offices of the Milken Family Foundation to work more closely with policymakers on education and health issues. In his remarks, he offered moving reminiscences about living the American Dream (which he defined as one person can make a difference; you should make the difference for your community; and everyone should have an equal opportunity, including access to capital). Milken has certainly made a difference at GW: he's given $50M to its public health programs.
