LA's 10 Tallest Skyscrapers
LA has some of the tallest buildings in the country. Our pals at Colliers helped us track down the top 10.
US Bank Tower
At 72-stories, US Bank Tower is the tallest building in LA. The building was completed in 1989 by famed LA developer Robert Maguire, who later sold it to a Singapore investment group last year for $367.5M. The tallest building west of the Mississippi was designed by IM Pei of New York and features more than 1.4M SF of rentable building area. Top tenants include US Bancorp and White & Case.
Aon Center
Aon Center is the second-tallest in the city, standing at 62-stories. Completed in 1973 and known as the United California Bank Building for years, it was later renamed to First Interstate Tower and then ultimately Aon Center. The building turned 40 last year and was bought in October by Shorenstein Properties from Beacon Capital Partners. Top tenants include Aon Risk Services and Wells Fargo.
Bank of America Plaza
The 55-story Bank of America Plaza was completed in 1974 and designed by famed architect AC Martin. The tower is owned by Brookfield, which has a stranglehold on the top 10. It was formerly known as Security Pacific Plaza, until BofA purchased the bank in 1992. Top tenants include The Capital Group and Sheppard, Mullin, Richter & Hampton LLP.
Wells Fargo Center - North Tower
Also owned by Brookfield, this 54-story tower was originally named Crocker Tower, until Crocker National Bank merged with Wells Fargo in 1986. The building was completed in 1983 and was developed by Maguire Properties. Brookfield picked up the building, and several others on the list, as part of a $450M portfolio buy from Maguire. Top tenants include Oaktree Capital and Wells Fargo.
777 Tower
This 52-story Tower was also picked up by Brookfield in the same portfolio buy from Maguire. The building was completed in 1991 and designed by Cesar Pelli. The tower features a three-story Italian marble lobby and white metal and glass exterior. Top tenants include Bank of Tokyo and RBC Capital Markets.
515 S. Flower
Often known as Paul Hastings Tower, the 52-story skyscraper is owned by CommonWealth Partners, which also owns No. 7 on the list. This building was completed in 1972 and originally named ARCO Plaza. Top tenants include Regus and Thomas Properties.
555 S. Flower
Also owned by CommonWealth, Paul Hasting's twin is identical in height and is commonly known as City National Tower. Both buildings were designed by AC Martin. Top tenants include AECOM and City National.
350 Grand
Known as Two California Plaza, this 52-story tower owned by CIM Group was a 10 year project. It was finally completed in 1992 during a real estate downturn. The plaza was picked up by CIM earlier this year as part of a 7-property portfolio from CWCapital Asset Management. Top tenants include Deloitte and WilmerHale.
Figueroa at Wilshire
Formerly Sanwa Bank Plaza, this 52-story tower was completed in 1990 and is owned by Brookfield. The building was another of the assets purchased from Maguire as part of the portfolio that included Bank of America Plaza, 777 Tower and others. Top tenants include Cushman & Wakefield and Morgan Stanley.
Gas Company Tower
This 50-story tower also was purchased in the same portfolio from Maguire. It was completed in 1991 on Bunker Hill and serves as HQ for SoCal Gas. This year, Deloitte became the first tenant to get their logo on the building's peak. Top tenants include Deloitte and SoCal Gas.
