Between his real estate developments and the Houston Rockets, Tilman Fertitta is having a good month. The Post Oak Hotel at Uptown Houston, an opulent property with a two-level Rolls-Royce dealership inside the 38-story tower, has opened its doors.

"Houston has never had a property like this and I wanted to be the one to deliver it," Fertitta said.

The centerpiece of the development is the 250-room The Post Oak Hotel. Mastro's Steakhouse and Willie G's Seafood will be joined by Bloom & Bee, the hotel's main restaurant, and Craft F & B, an upscale gastropub. The master-planned mixed-use project also features 11 stories of Class-A office space and a designer retail boutique, salon and spa. In addition to the two-story Rolls-Royce showroom inside the hotel, an on-property dealership, Post Oak Motors, has Bentleys and Bugattis available for purchase or just admiring.

On the other side of town, the University of Houston is using a $20M gift from Fertitta to fund the renovation of its basketball arena. The new $60M arena will carry Fertitta's name after his donation, which is the largest the school's athletic department has ever received from an individual. Fertitta is a graduate of UH and serves as chairman of the school system's board of regents. Renovations on the 50-year-old arena are set to be complete in time for the 2018-19 basketball season.
