Developer Plans Mixed-Use Project For Montrose

Developer Fred Sharifi is planning a new $20M development in east Montrose, among the colorful mix of homes and businesses that give the neighborhood its reputation as a quirky, fun part of town.

With the addition of a parking garage and three new buildings for retailers, offices and apartments, Sharifi intends to make the area walkable, and more vital during the day, according to the Houston Chronicle. Sharifi emphasized that he wants the development to meld into the character of the neighborhood. Groundbreaking is expected this summer.

Sharifi has been developing in Houston for decades. He owns several restaurants, buildings and townhouses, mostly inside the Loop. [HC]
