Nau Center Construction Paused

Placeholder

Just four months after breaking ground, development of the Nau Center for Texas Cultural Heritage has been paused. Lead donor/chairman of the board John Nau III says skyrocketing construction costs and the challenge of quickly raising $80M in today's economic environment are making the team hit the brakes. It's returning donations it's received thus far, and Mayor Annise Parker says "when the time is right, we will reconvene and determine how and when to move forward." Construction had begun on an accelerated timeline so the museum could open in time for Super Bowl LI.
