Rick McCord is lauded as a visionary for pioneering development in Northeast Houston with Generation Park, a 4,000-acre mixed-use development underway. He founded McCord Development shortly after moving to Houston in 1973; since, it has developed or acquired $2B of real estate. He passed away in October at age 70, and nearly 1,200 people attended his funeral, many wearing bright colors to honor his passion and vibrancy.

We also lost Jeff Burck, a Brookfield property manager who was heavily involved in IREM, in January, and Burton Construction founder Brad Burton in July.

We compiled a list of some of the biggest names across the country in commercial real estate to pass away this year. View it here.
