Top Partners Industrial Broker Travis Land Dies At 45
Travis Land, a heavy-hitting Houston industrial broker, died at age 45, years after being diagnosed with cancer, Partners Real Estate announced.
Land joined Partners Real Estate as an associate in 2002, the same year he graduated from Texas Tech University, and went on to become a top-producing industrial broker.
Despite his cancer diagnosis, Partners CEO Jon Silberman said Land was the firm’s No. 1 producer last year.
“The loss of Travis Land at Partners is deeply felt by the entire firm,” Silberman said in his LinkedIn post announcing Land's death. “We will dearly miss his sharp wit and insightful counsel. In this difficult time, we extend our heartfelt thoughts and prayers to his wife, children, friends, and family.”
Land quickly excelled at Partners Real Estate, where he ultimately became a partner and earned many accolades, including a rookie of the year award, according to the firm’s website.
He became the firm’s top industrial producer for the first time in 2009, a designation he would earn four more times. He was also the growing firm’s No. 1 overall producer in 2021, 2023 and 2024.
Silberman witnessed Land’s “remarkable and courageous battle against adversity” over the past two years.
“His remarkable journey continued as he ascended to the position of partner, eventually becoming a significant shareholder, board member, and one of the most steadfast pillars of the firm,” Silberman said. “Throughout the growth of our firm, both during prosperous times and challenging periods, Travis’s presence has been an unwavering source of stability and inspiration for me personally, and all of us at Partners, for which we will forever be grateful.”
As recently as January, Land was sourcing and brokering deals like Partners Capital’s acquisition of a three-building, 13-acre industrial portfolio. He closed more than 30M SF of transactions in his 22-year career.
Land was also a member of the Texas Tech Center for Real Estate's advisory board, a former board member and president of the Society of Industrial and Office Realtors Gulf Coast Chapter, and NAIOP Houston's industrial broker of the year for 2023.
Dan Boyles, also a partner at Partners Real Estate, said Land’s business acumen was unmatched, but the best thing he witnessed was Land’s role as a husband and father.
“That tough exterior would melt away when he came by my office every year with his daughter selling Girl Scout cookies,” Boyles said in a LinkedIn post. “He would be smiling ear to ear in the photos of him coaching his son in baseball. Those are the things I will remember most about my friend and partner.”
