Post Brothers is hosting this year’s Bisnow Multifamily Annual Conference East at Universal North, located in the DuPont Circle neighborhood of Northwest Washington D.C. The nationally known, large-scale multifamily real estate owner and developer officially entered the D.C. market this year with its $228MM acquisition of Universal North and South, two Class B office buildings totaling nearly 660,000 square feet that the firm will convert into $700MM worth of rental apartments. Post Brothers views the Northwest D.C. market as a major residential opportunity. The Universal North and Universal South acquisition was driven by the city’s strong fundamentals and capacity for adaptive reuse, offering stable rental prices, housing demand, and unique zoning laws that support office conversions over new high-density construction.

Post Brothers’ completed development will boast over 600 residences, more than 650 parking spaces, and over 45,000 square feet of ground-floor commercial space. The firm has been a leader in adaptive reuse over its 16+ year history, experience that’s highly advantageous when reimagining D.C.’s underutilized office assets. The completed residential project in the highly-coveted neighborhoods of Dupont Circle and Kalorama will feature a world-class amenity package rivaling premium five-star hotels.

What You'll Learn at this Mid-Atlantic Multifamily Investing Forum

  • Rents are continuing to surge and yet, more residents than ever before are staying put. How are owners incentivizing residents to renew leases, despite climbing costs?
  • Approximately 822,000 new multifamily units are under construction across the U.S. How are inflation and climbing interest rates, paired with construction costs, labor challenges and supply shortages impacting the timeline and delivery of these units?
  • As economists warn of a looming recession, how are owners and investors financing new deals in multifamily, or working to future-proof their portfolios before the end of the year?
  • A market report & the rise of secondary cities: D.C.'s multifamily developers are eyeing markets like Charlotte, Raleigh, and Charleston to expand their residential portfolios. How can the city incentivize them to continue building residential development opportunities within the District proper?
  • Based on residential demands and data, how are today's owners and operators reconsidering management, operations, proptech, layouts, and more?

How You'll Do More Business: While other asset classes are bracing for a recession, or over saturation, multifamily still reigns supreme. According to Bisnow, D.C. alone is already projecting up to 66% more units expected to deliver over the next 12 months in comparison to what was delivered last year. But how are today's current challenges — from inflation to interest rates, supply changes to labor shortages — impacting multifamily rents, demands and deals throughout the East Coast? Hear from multifamily's top experts as we unpack the top trends in financing, building and residential investments.

Who You'll Meet: The East Coast's top owners, developers, investors, policy-makers, economists, analysts, and more.
