Ball Corp. recently broke ground on a 145K SF expansion of its Aerospace Manufacturing Center in Westminster. When fully completed, the expansion will enhance the manufacturing and production capabilities of Ball Aerospace, a subsidiary of Ball Corp. that specializes in national security and intelligence programs, as well as space and Earth science exploration.

"Ball is a major contributing factor to the State of Colorado's status as the nation's second-largest aerospace economy," Gov. John Hickenlooper said at the event.

The existing facility houses design facilities, product manufacturing, test ranges and administrative space. It was initially built in the late 1980s, and underwent a 60K SF expansion in 2006. The latest expansion is expected to be completed by early 2019.

The architect for the expansion is RNL, with Hensel Phelps as the general contractor. CPI is the project manager.
