Approved $28M TEX Rail Commuter Station Will Connect Fort Worth To DFW Airport By 2018

After breaking ground in August, TEX Rail’s 27-mile-long track will be carting passengers from Fort Worth to DFW Airport by November 2018. Airport board members have hired contractor Archer Western to build a station at Terminal B for $28M, the Star-Telegram reports. Rail operator Herzog is overseeing the project.

DART’s light rail in Terminal A will be accessible to the TEX Rail station through a connected walkway, allowing North Texans to take public transit from Fort Worth to Dallas.

Stops on the TEX Rail include the Stockyards, the Mercantile area of North Fort Worth, North Richland Hills and Grapevine. Federal funding of just less than $500M will help the $1B project reach completion by September 2018.

The airport’s station is being designed to accommodate DART’s eventual Cotton Belt line.
