There may be some movement in the Goose Island office market soon. Candy giant Mars, which merged with iconic chewing gum company Wrigley in 2008, is scouting office space in Goose Island for a possible consolidation as Mars launches a new business unit in Chicago.

The new unit, Mars Wrigley Confectionery, would be HQ'd on Goose Island but would require an expansion of its existing footprint there, according to Crain's. Mars representatives have been spotted around Goose Island touring development sites and buildings. Wrigley opened a global innovation center on Goose Island 11 years ago, adding further speculation that a HQ consolidation is in the works.

If and when a consolidation is announced, Mars would terminate its 150k SF lease at 600 West Chicago Ave (pictured), which is home to Wrigley's regional Americas HQ. There should be plenty of companies seeking to fill that space. 600 West Chicago, best known as Groupon's HQ, is one of River West's most popular office addresses. [Crain's]
