Beam Suntory Is The Latest Company Plotting A Downtown Move

Motorola Mobility, which vacated 200k SF in Merchandise Mart in a downsizing last year, may be close to landing another company to fill the space. Liquor conglomerate Beam Suntory is eyeing subleasing 100k SF from Motorola Mobility and moving its 500 employees from Deerfield to downtown.

Beam Suntory has called 510 Lake Cook Rd in Deerfield home since 2011, according to Crain's. If the deal is sealed, it would further position Merchandise Mart as an epicenter for companies seeking to attract and retain younger talent. The building is already home to the tech/startup incubator 1871 Chicago. ConAgra is moving its HQ to Merchandise Mart from Omaha.
