While Terraco works to start demolition of the Logan Square Mega Mall, more details of the retail component of the redevelopment project have been revealed. Terraco's Scott Gendell wants to bring a name supermarket to Logan Square. But is it the one residents want?

Jewel has the inside track on being one of the two anchor retailers for the redevelopment, dubbed Logan's Crossing, according to Curbed. The supermarket chain would open a 40k SF store in the building and would be a boon for residential tenants. And there would be many, with 240 apartments planned for the project.

Logan Square residents expressed desire for a Trader Joe's at Logan's Crossing during public meetings on the project. But there's little doubt that Logan Square could use a supermarket, regardless of which one eventually lands at Logan Crossing. And residents will have options: another supermarket chain, Cermak Fresh Market, opened a 70k SF store at Merit Partners' The Fields at Pulaski and Diversey. [Curbed]
