Logan Square Mega Mall Redevelopment Moves Forward

Placeholder

The changing landscape of Logan Square continues at its rapid pace with news that the Logan Square Mega Mall will be razed next month to make room for a brand new mixed-use development.

Terraco Real Estate Development is building Logan's Crossing on the site at 2500 N Milwaukee. When it's completed, the project will house 240 luxury apartments and a 113k SF retail footprint. Terraco CEO Scott Gendell says the group is close to finalizing leases with a grocer and fitness center for storefront space, DNA Info reports.

The Mega Mall redevelopment has come to epitomize the fast-changing Logan Square neighborhood, in the eyes of affordable housing critics. Longtime residents fear Logan's Crossing and other multifamily projects in the neighborhood will price people out of the neighborhood. Another criticism is how these projects in the pipeline will complement existing architecture. Logan's Crossing's designs underwent significant renovations from its original glass-and-steel renderings to a more aesthetically pleasing brick-and-mortar design. [DNA]
