Construction Of McDonald's New HQ Is Ready To Begin, With Permit Issued

The West Loop's most visible office development may be underway soon. The city issued a construction permit for Sterling Bay to build McDonald's new HQ on the former Harpo Studios site.

The project has been fast-tracked almost from the moment it was announced in June. The city issued a demolition permit for the site seemingly before the ink dried on the news of McDonald's move. And it's gotten bigger in scope: McDonald's and Sterling Bay expanded its footprint in the $250M, nine-story building to 500k SF.

The construction permit covers work on the building's foundation and a two-level, 300-car underground garage, according to Curbed. McDonald's will be completely vacated from its existing Oak Brook HQ in 2018. [Curbed]
