The second of two Chicago landmarks is set to enjoy a revamp. Now it’s the John Hancock Center’s turn for the spotlight; it's set to get a new recording studio and will have a light display added. The recording studio would include a new glass front that would affect the building’s ground level, according to the Chicago Business Journal. New, larger signage would also be added. But locals aren’t thrilled: preservationists have been trying to obtain landmark status for the building, such that additional modifications have to be approved. To add one more twist: the Chicago Sun Times reports that a new name for the Center might also be in its future. [CBJ, CST]
