If you were at our event last November celebrating the top 50 women in Chicago real estate, you won't want to miss our hard-hitting panel, The Real Estate Money Machine: Chicago's Capital Markets Power Brokers, Aug. 6 at 7am at the Trump International Hotel & Tower. One of our power women, Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority CEO Lori Healey (pictured) will be a panelist. Before being named MPEA CEO, Lori was CEO of Tur Partners, a global investment and advisory firm, as well as a newly approved EB-5 service provider. She also led Chicago's blockbuster 2016 Olympics bid, which the world was crazy to pass up. (And looks even more impressive after today's Boston news.)

The firm entered the hot EB-5 sector thanks to founder Mayor Richard M. Daley's relationships with Chinese financial institutions, she tells us, and it's looking to attract low-cost overseas capital to supplement financing of development projects. Most recently principal at John Buck, Lori slid into real estate by way of her government experience in economic development. (She oversaw $1B-plus in investment as commissioner of the City's Department of Planning and Development.) It was always about the real estate, she says, citing Block 37 as one of her most gratifying achievements, both on the City side and doing master plan work at Perkins+Will. When Lori's not catching up with her grown children, you'll find her showing horses across the Midwest. Hear Lori and other major players in Chicago's capital markets at The Real Estate Money Machine: Chicago's Capital Markets Power Brokers, Aug. 6 at 7am, at the Trump International Hotel and Tower.
