Cabrini-Green Redevelopment Will Add 2.3k homes

Chicago

Plans for the massive redevelopment of the former Cabrini-Green public housing project could add 2,300 homes to the Near North Side site, planners say. The 65-acre site once housed over 15,000 people in more than 3,600 public housing units. The Chicago Housing Authority recently unveiled redevelopment plans that involve three separate building phases, DNAinfo reports. The CHA will accept bids from private developers for each of the phases this summer. The units must be 30% public housing, 20% affordable housing, and 50% market-rate. For the first phase, a mixed-use commercial and residential building will go up near the neighborhood's Division Street Target store. [DNAinfo]
