A long-vacant Bridgeport warehouse best known as the former home of the Spiegel catalog company has a new owner. Blue Star Properties, known for its redevelopment of Pilsen's Thalia hall, bought the building at 1038 W 35th St last month.

A federal bankruptcy judge approved the $2.7M sale, according to DNAInfo. The 79-year-old building has been vacant for decades. Developer David Dubin planned on redeveloping the building into condos before the real estate collapse. Since then, that stretch of Bridgeport emerged as an art district. The Zhou B Art Center is across the Street at 1035 W 35th, while the Bridgeport Art Center is nearby at 1200 W 35th.

Z Group International, owners of the Zhou B Art Center, long coveted the Spiegel warehouse. It's unknown at this time how Blue Star will reposition the property. [DNA]
