Construction will begin in March on a six-story, 154K SF neo-traditional office building at the mixed-use community at Waverly.

This will be the second office building in the south Charlotte community and will be a joint venture of Childress Klein, Crosland Southeast and the B. Frank Matthews II family. The Remi Group has leased about 31K SF and will be the first tenant at The Nexus.

“We believe that the bottom line is enhanced by personal well-being and that people thrive in active, vibrant environments. Waverly is just that environment and will help us recruit, develop and retain the very best talent,” The Remi Group founder and CEO Dan Schuster said in a statement.

The Nexus will feature exposed ceilings, collaborative workspace interiors, a covered parking deck, bike storage and outdoor meeting space enabled with WiFi. Childress Klein will seek LEED certification.

Waverly’s first creative office building, The Hub, will house global headquarters for tech manufacturer NN Inc.

Waverly is a 90-acre master-planned development just south of Interstate 485 at the intersection of Providence Road and Ardrey Kell Road. The 250K SF of retail is anchored by Whole Foods Market and features restaurants and outdoor dining in addition to the Class-A office space and two medical office buildings. The development also offers 375 upscale apartments and 150 single-family homes. Townhomes are being built.

Ben Speir with Cherry & Associates represented The Remi Group, and Travis Hart and Jenny Fowler represented Childress Klein and will handle leasing. Wells Fargo will provide financing for The Nexus. Shelco is the general contractor and Rule Joy Trammell Rubio is the architect.
