Redgate's Commercial Property Floodgate

Boston Other

Chelsea’s hopping on the multifamily boom wagon in April when One North of Boston delivers the first of 230 apartments with subsequent phases to follow. (It's a crowded wagon, but no one's complaining so far.) Developer Gate Residential Properties, which has approximately 500 units underway, is a division of four-year-old Redgate and they also have a lot going on in the commercial development and advisory arena, says principal Tom Hamill (right with Gilbane’s Joe Gallagher and DiMella Shaffer’s Randy Kreie at a recent industry event). Redgate is working with clients and investors on about 4.5M SF of projects here, in New York, Baltimore, and Miami and recently opened a New York City office.

In the Seaport, Redgate worked with Gilbane to build out 50k SF at 5 Channel Center for the Fraunhofer Center for Sustainable Energy Systems (above), a “living lab” for the German group’s applied research on clean energy and buildings systems, says Tom. Redgate managed the fit out and relo of Brown Brothers Harriman’s 2,000-person staff into 400k SF at the redeveloped, historic 50 Post Office Square, former HQ of New England Telephone. Pfizer has started its phased move into Six Ten Main Street in Cambridge, which landlord MITIMCO (MIT’s real estate arm) developed with Redgate acting as development and project manager. The pharma giant is consolidating staff now spread across three locations.
