Newton-based Attivio is jumping aboard the tenant train from the suburbs heading to downtown Boston.

The software company announced Tuesday it will move from Newton’s Riverside Center to 100 Summer St. in downtown Boston by May. Attivio did not indicate how large its downtown office would be, but the company currently has 55 employees, according to a Built In BOS Best Places to Work ranking

“Our new office space will allow us to more readily tap into the energy of Boston's technology community and also be a place that fosters our people's creativity, collaboration and big ideas," Attivio CEO Stephen Baker said in a statement.

Developments in Boston’s urban core have attracted a string of suburban corporate relocations in recent years. Reebok left Canton for the Innovation & Design Building. Needham-based PTC is readying a move into 121 Seaport, and Puma announced last week a plan to move its headquarters from Westford to Assembly Row in Somerville by early 2021.

Downtown has been able to backfill space vacated by large law and financial service firms with technology companies, especially at 100 Summer St. Nixon Peabody is leaving its 167K SF office at the tower, but landlord Equity Office previously indicated to Bisnow it was repositioning itself for downtown’s new tech scene. The building counts software company Cloudhealth Technologies and Bullhorn among its newer tech tenants.
