The City of Boston is providing $28M in federal and local money for the development and preservation of affordable housing units in six city neighborhoods.

The funds will create 584 units of housing and preserve 253 existing units in Chinatown, Dorchester, Jamaica Plain, Mattapan, Roxbury and South Boston.

For example, the Jamaica Plain Neighborhood Development Corp and Back of the Hill Community Development Corp are planning a 47-unit affordable property on Heath Street (pictured), according to the Boston Business Journal. The project was designed by Prellwitz Chilinski Associates. [BBJ]
